Children Dharma Class

Children Dharma Class

Children Dharma Class is on Sundays morning, at the same time as the Sunday Service between 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. The class schedule follows the school term of the national primary school for about 10 weeks and breaks during the school holiday. All children from 5 to 14 years old are welcome to join.
The class program has been structured on 3 main areas ĘC Attitude, Skills and Values (similar to 3 main criteria of Buddhism ĘC Discipline, Concentration and Wisdom). For attitude, children will learn about the lives of Buddha and his disciples, learning humility, gratitude and persistence. The teachers also share with the children on the right attitude in their daily lives.
There will be art and craft in the curriculum, this is to help develope the children's sensitivity on seeing, feeling and co-ordination with hands; concentration and responsibilities required in completing their art works. The art classes also give them an opportunity to learn to share and interact with each other.
For acquiring values of right views, courage and truthfulness, the children are taught to recite morning-prayer and practising loving-kindness meditation. In addition, the children will be given the opportunity to participate in the temple's festival celebration with songs, dance and dramas.
Children Dharma Class is conducted by volunteers of the temple; nevertheless, nominal tuition fee is applicable per term to defray the cost of maintenance.
