In conjunction of Celebrate Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Buddhist temple Christchurch 10th Anniversary and Buddha¡¯s Birthday Festival, FGS south island will held a special 10th year anniversary ceremony on 22th April at 2 Harakeke street, Riccarton, Christchurch.
What is the significance of bathing the Buddha? A metaphor goes- Just like how water is soft in nature, and can diffuse with anything and everything it comes into contact with- we can adopt the characteristics of water, and present religion, culture and life as an interconnected entity.
The significance of bathing the Buddha is profound. As one bathes the Buddha, the individual makes the following wishes: ¡°As I bathe the Buddha, may I be cleansed of greed, hatred and ignorance, may I maintain a pure mind, may society be purified of violence and fraud, and may all be beautified by all that is good¡±.
Those who participate in this virtuous act may develop great wisdom, be free from illnesses and enjoy unlimited potential on their practitioner¡¯s path. This year¡¯s Buddha's Birthday includes the:
Bathing the Buddha Dharma Function,
Happiness & Peace Prayer Ceremony,
Biography & Publication of the Venerable Master Hsing Yun
Baby Blessing (Pre-registration required)
Animation - A story of the Buddha
