Local artist Paul Deans started his exhibition at the Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch on the 12th and 13th of March with assistance of the art gallery¡¯s tour guide, Vicky Han and 2 other members of the Buddha¡¯s Light International Association (BLIA) members. 16 of Paul¡¯s artwork are now showcasing at the gallery.

Paul joined the sculpture department of ¡°Lord Of The Rings¡± and was commissioned to design and create life-sized sculptures for film director Peter Jackson. In this exhibition, Paul has included his delicate and vivid wood sculpting and a bronze artwork of human figures with dynamic characteristics and expression.

Paul informed that he does meditation before and after his sculpting. In his work, he will go according to the materials and the original shape to decide what kind of sculpture to be worked on and it will averagely take around two months to complete an artwork. The low profiled artist has not been exhibiting for quite some time, but the beautiful environment of the FGY Art Gallery has brought his art to be displayed again which gives him excitement and joy like the days that he began as a young artist starting to exhibit his art.

During the exhibition, Paul will be at the FGY Art Gallery from time to time to share his inspiration and creativeness towards his work to the those who visit the exhibition.
