Interview with the August Artists

Local artist Keith Morant will be exhibiting his new exhibition this coming August at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch entitled Ringing True. For the public to have a deeper understanding of this exhibition, art gallery coordinator, Vicky Han, Buddhas Light International Association (BLIA) members Nick and James Low visited Keith at his residence on the 18th and 25th of June for a video shoot. BLIA members smoothly shot video clips at Keith working on his artwork and interviews.

Keith expressed that he is a blessed artist as he has Tricia as his wife accompanying him always. He said, Tricias tolerance and understanding towards his "obsessiveness", allowed him to have a private studio and encouraged him to keep writing. This allows him to create his artwork and exhibit in different countries, making new friends all over the world. He has then appreciated Zen as a Way of Life and understood the essence of Buddhism, finding the wonders of Dharma and his philosophy of life at the same place.

In the interview, Keith explained in detail on how he gets his inspiration for his work and some of these inspirations even started when he was at a tender age of five and some came from Buddhist Dharmas. Keith and Tricia both gave gratitude to Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch in cooperating in getting the place ready for their exhibition. This will surely give the couple a chance to grow the idea of Keith Foundation which is to help local artists to show their best to the public, and to give art lovers a chance to explore more artwork.

In the end, BLIA members thanked Keith and Tricia for allowing them to have shootings and interviews with them and gaining information for the exhibition that will be showcasing in August, giving the people of Christchurch a joyful and colourful vibrant of art.
