CHCH U3A Visit temple, learns about 3G4G

On the 11th of July, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand greeted a group of 39 folks from Avonhead suburb¡¯s University of the Third Age (U3A) cohort in Christchurch. Buddha¡¯s Light International Association (BLIA) members Vicky Han, Kok Wei Low, Frida Dai were there to accommodate the group. They were taken to see Li ZiJian¡¯s ¡°Humanity and Love oil painting¡± exhibition, and praised the artist for his delicate and touching life-like artwork. Along the ¡®time passage corridor¡¯, the guests were equally impressed at how minute details to the design process can transform a simple walkway into something extraordinary.

Kok Wei Low led the group for a sitting meditation session at the main shrine. JiaHan Dai then also gave a brief explanation of Buddhist concepts like the Noble Eightfold Path, Three Good Deeds and Four Gives. Nearing the end of the tour, Frida, on behalf of the temple, presented the U3A group with a copy of the ¡°FGS NZ 10th Anniversary report¡± as a memorabilia token for visiting. Group leader Tony would also like to express the joy shared by all the visiting U3A members in touring the temple, and thanked the temple for the warm hospitality shown during the day.

After the tour ended, some people stayed at the Water Drop Cafe for a quiet afternoon tea. Also that very night, Tony personally sent an email on behalf of his organisation, thanking the temple again for the wonderful guided tour. In the letter, he mentioned how they were most pleased with the trip that day, and that a lot of the folks were definitely keen to visiting the temple again someday.
