A Dinner with the Christchurch Vegetarian Society


The Christchurch Vegetarian Society held an event for vegetarian lovers to enjoy an exquisite vegetarian dinner on the 22nd of July at the Water Drop Vegetarian Caf¨¦ Christchurch. Even on the rainy day and multiple road closures that happened that day, 108 vege lovers participated the event.

Before the dinner event, Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) coordinator Vicky Han, Buddha¡¯s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island members Frida Dai, Tifanny Su and Lih Son Ding guided the guests for a tour throughout the building which was exhibiting international artist ZiJian Li¡¯s ¡°Humanity and Love¡± oil paintings, local artists Averil Cave pottery exhibition and Justine de Spa¡¯s ¡°The World is a Rainbow¡± photography exhibition. BLIA members also guided the tour into the Main Shrine to introduce ¡°Buddha¡± and how Buddhists in Christchurch and every part of the world contribute to everyone. The story of the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun¡¯s motto in practicing ¡°3 Acts of Goodness¡±, ¡°4 Givings¡± and 5 ¡°Harmonious¡± was also shared.

During dinner, the Water Drop Caf¨¦ team professionally served a combination of Western and Oriental 3 Course meal with options of the Black Burger or Vegetarian Fillet and dessert of Mochamisu served with ice-cream. With such good food and great environment, the guests were taking pictures and checked in digitally showing how satisfied they were.

The President of the Christchurch Vegetarian Society, Yolanda sent words of gratitude for the event held and thanked BLIA members in preparing such beautiful meal, at the same time, getting donations through this fund-raising dinner. BLIA¡¯s Frida return her thanks to the Christchurch Vegetarian Society in giving trust to the Caf¨¦ and also informed on the upcoming exhibition of local artists, couple of Keith and Tricia Morant, the Ikebana flower arrangements and many more exhibitions to come, looking forward for the people of Christchurch to enjoy.

The veil of this vegetarian dinner not only received the praise of guests, but created awareness in the concept of healthy and nutrition eating, in conjunction of Christchurch Vegetarian Society's annual fundraising described as the best to the guests.
