Appreciation Party for BLIA Volunteers at FGS


On 29th October 2017. Buddhas Light International Association (BLIA) South Island held an Afternoon Tea for its volunteers to thank them for their relentless contributions towards the many activities of the Association. Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Abbess Venerable Manshin and BLIA North Island Chief Advisor Dolly Tsai were invited to grace the occasion. The Afternoon Tea was attended by newly elected BLIA South Island President Bernie Siew. Vice Presidents Louisa Kuo, James Low and Ding Lih Son and 30 BLIA members and volunteers.

In her speech, Vice President and Louisa Kuo, who is also the head of the Community Service Team, thanked all the volunteers for their efforts which have contributed towards helping Venerable Jue Xi in her propagation of Humanistic Buddhism in South Island. Louisa also urged members to treat FGS as their spiritual homes. She informed the audience that the Community Service Team was set up to serve the public and has been involved in the New Zealand Red Crosss Meals on Wheels Project for the past twenty years. Its other activities include the giving of solace to aggrieved BLIA members and their families in times of sickness or bereavement. Louisa also took the opportunity to thank FGS for providing a platform for BLIA members to carry out their services to the public.
