15 members from the Passionist Family Group of a well known church in Christchurch, the St Peter Catholic Church came for a tour at the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island on October 9 with the lead of John Walsh. They were warmly welcomed by Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch artistic coordinator, See-Shen Lee. She firstly introduced the history of the Fo Guang Shan founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun and later on the history of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery. They were then being told of the design and architecture of FGY Art Gallery Christchurch and the materials being used to build up the building, for example, the tiles that look like wood for a feeling of timber are actually tiles imported from India.
See-Shen then led the group into visiting the significant artwork of ¡°One-Stroke Calligraphy¡± exhibition by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Later, they were brought to the Buddha Hall and being introduced into basic Buddhism and the history; the group was curious about Buddhism and have their questions all answered by See-Shen. They lastly visited the library and were very happy that they have had this memorable religious trip.
