To celebrate the joyful occasion of Mother’s Day, Fo Guang Shan Christchurch’s Water Drop Cafe hosted the annual English High Tea event on 11th May 2025. Nearly a hundred locals came for the event, enjoying a warm and delightful time with their families.
All dishes were meticulously handmade and served with traditional British tea ware, delighting guests the moment the food arrived. The selection included vegan low-sugar macarons, classic French canelés, chestnut taro and nut tarts, as well as signature sandwiches. These treats blended Eastern and Western flavours with the health benefits of vegetarianism, offering guests a true feast for the senses.
Attendees praised the afternoon tea not only for its elegant presentation and great taste. With warm hospitality and beautifully set space, the experience was considered exceptional value and and showed the team’s dedication.
Many participants reserved their spots as soon as the event was announced and some return every year, excited to see what’s new. One guest noted that while traditional English tea sets are rarely used by the younger generation today, seeing these nostalgic items still in use at the café felt both precious and heart-warming.
