The 2nd of October marked the final class for Term 3 of the Children Dharma Class. The final class of the term was utilised as an opportunity for all students to participate in a fun game of Crossing the River. This game required students to work together to achieve the challenging task of moving from one space to another using only two pieces of cardboard and adhering to multiple restrictions. The students collaborated creatively together to solve the problem and experience the joy of reaching their goals.
This lesson was concluded with an award ceremony. Teacher Nadine announced the deserving recipients of the neat and clean, diligent and perfect attendance awards. Emmeline was presented with the neat and clean award for consistently supporting the teachers to maintain a clean learning environment and keeping her desk space tidy and clean. Bosco and Anthan were presented the diligence award for showing commitment to their learning, respecting all and consistently modelling the 3 Goodness and Four Giving. Wish, Raymond Chong, John, Cody, Issac and Raymond Hu were all awarded perfect attendance awards for having 100% attendance in all classes.
The diligence award recipient of the advanced class, Anthan, shared his gratitude towards Abbess, the temple and teachers for providing a platform for the children to learn about the basics of Humanistic Buddhism. In his sharing, he also learned that it is important to show kindness to people in times of need, such as helping his mum to do the dishes and helping the temple with unblocking and clearing the drainage. He made a vow to grow faster so that he could be part of the teaching team and help others to spread more kindness. On the other hand, Bosco Chong shared that he is thankful to Abbess as he learned to memorise Chinese poems and tolerate with his siblings. He is also grateful as Abbess taught him the proper Four Postures in life, namely, Walk like the wind, Sit like a bell, Sleep like a bow and Stand like a pine tree.
Venerable Neng Chien attended the award ceremony and presented the award winners with a gift. She mentioned that every student is shining like a big sun and bringing positivity to everyone around them. She reminded the students of their Buddha nature and innate ability to spread kindness and positivity to all those around them.
