There were 39 seniors from Hamilton Probus Group visited the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Buddhist Temple New Zealand on 17th June 2021. The Temple Staff, Nick, warmly greeted the seniors and led them for an informative guided tour.
In the One Stroke Calligraphy Exhibition, Nick introduced that all the calligraphy writing are written by the the founder of FGS Order, Venerable Master Hsing Yun. He further explained that Venerable Master is 96-year-old and he is still diligently writing the calligraphy to bring people joy, even though he had a brain surgery 5 years ago. The seniors was moved by Venerable Master’s determination. One of the seniors bought a calligraphy pen and wish to practice patience through calligraphy. The seniors also had a chance to strike the Peace Gong in front of the Pagoda. Everyone enjoyed the serene and peaceful sounds of the Gong.
The seniors also visited the Traditional Chinese Ink Painting Exhibition by Prof KUO Yen-Chiao. They were impressed by the beautiful landscape paintings and asked a lot of questions. One of the seniors, Elva shared that her favourite piece is Spring Tour to Taiwan. They also attracted by the beautiful and elegant flower arrangement by the curator Abbess Manshin.
Before leaving, the seniors appreciated the Temple for arranging the visit, which allowed them to experience the richness of multiculturalism. This was indeed a wonderful and unforgettable experience. They look forward to visiting the Temple again during the Cherry Blossom Festival.
