On 21st June 2022, 54 students from Orewa Highs School led by the teacher arrived at the FGS Auckland Temple. The activities include writing Chinese Calligraphy, striking the wishing bell, learning Temple greetings, and mindfulness meditation. They also learned Three Goodness and Four Giving (3G4G)’s values and improved their self-value of truth, kindness and beauty. Through the visit, the students felt inner peace and broaden their minds.
The students watched the Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s One Stroke Calligraphy video and experienced calligraphy. Students who learnt to hold the calligraphy pen for the first time expressed how amazing that Venerable Master can write beautiful calligraphy! During the mindfulness meditation, students listened to the guide, to calm their thoughts by mindful self-reflection. In the Prince Siddhartha Exhibition, the students write their wishes for the future and bless the community.
The leading teacher, Mrs Feng, joyfully shared that it was such a fantastic feeling when she walked into the courtyard, coming into view of a majestic building and peaceful patio. Then, she made a wish and hoped she could take all students to visit this Temple. Today, her wishes come true, and she appreciates the Temple’s support and arrangement. Many students went to the Temple for the first time, and everyone showed respect and curiosity, visiting the Temple and taking pictures. The Temple gave all students a bookmark with Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s wise words as a gift, the cute novice picture on it attracted all students to share and discuss.
Before departure, the teachers appreciated the Temple’s organised activities. The students learned the right attitude in life, together with the community, to spread the right life attitude of Three Goodness and Four Giving (3G4G).
