The 3rd of October 2021 marks our final Children Dharma Class for the third semester. Three teachers, Leona, Lisa, and Lucy, taught the class. At the start of the session, we had our chanting of “Xi Fa Pu Ti Xin”, 悉發菩提心that was led by teacher Lisa. It was followed by the Bodhi Light Tales #30, which talked about not judging a book by its cover and treating everyone equally.
Teacher Leona continued the class by showing the fantastic video that guided the children to a virtual tour of Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum that was based in Taiwan. The students enjoyed the virtual tour! It was followed by a Kahoot! session that was based on the Buddha Museum and the values of 3 Goodness and 4 Givings. Zoey, one of our students, said that she enjoyed the virtual tour to the Buddha Museum and learning about different sculptures and places in the Fo Guang Shan Kaohsiung. She had learned about 12 zodiac animals and enjoyed the Kahoot! She felt thrilled that she got picked to answer some questions throughout the class! Emmeline, another student, expressed that Kahoot! was very fun and made our brain to react faster.
As it is Chinese Language Week, hence for our fun session for this week, teacher Lucy read the class a story about the race of the twelve zodiacs. After listening to the book, the kids took turns ordering the zodiac animals in the correct order. Everyone succeeded in the task! Both Raymond and Zacky also felt contented and summarised their learning on a piece of paper shown in the photos.
Teacher Leona expressed that she is so proud of the cooperation and the participation of the students. She also mentioned that the exciting interaction of students would never change regardless of how the class was being conducted. She is very impressed by their participation. For example, they raised fascinating questions to clarify their doubts and the meaning of some Buddhism vocabularies. Teacher Lisa said that all students had taken away some newly learned knowledge with them after the class. Teacher Lucy oversaw the fun session, where she read the book of the twelve zodiac animals. She is so impressed with the student’s memorization of the correct ordering of the animals. Both Lisa and Lucy sincerely thank the temple for giving us such an opportunity to enhance themselves and become better individuals.
We concluded the class by playing a video filmed by Thomas expressing his care for all students is always there and explained his absence to students. He also wished them an enjoyable holiday, and all teachers are excited and looking forward to seeing all of them back at the temple in person for the next semester. The Children Dharma Class teaching team wish the very best for the students and their families to have a wonderful holiday, and next semester will be more exciting!
