On 16th May 2022, there were 70 devotees at FGS Auckland participated in the Global Simultaneous Sutra Transcription to celebrate the Fo Guang Shan Monastic Order 56th Anniversary. Abbess Manshin led the devotees in transcribed the Sutra respectively, allowing the body and mind to stay in present.
The Founder, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, compassionately explained the meaning of Sutra Transcription compassionately to the devotees through a video. He stated Sutra Transcription is one of the way of self-cultivation. During the process, one understands the gist of sutras and realized the Buddha’s compassion and wisdom.
The Head Abbot of FGS Most Venerable Hsin Bao shared that, Venerable Master went to South Taiwan in 1967 to found FGS. Throughout all these years, the BLIA members’ efforts and commitment towards sharing the value of Humanistic Buddhism globally are greatly appreciated. The Heart Sutra explained the wisdom of Prajna emptiness. Through sutra transcription, it is hoped that one can understand and contemplate the Dharma teaching and put it into action, so as to enhance one’s blessings and wisdom.
FGS NZ Abbess Manshin shared that Venerable Master founded the FGS Monastery in Dashu District, Kaohsiung City which was a place described by others as not even ghosts were in favour. With Venerable Master’s great vows and compassion, he also established 2 Temples in Auckland and Christchurch, which offer a home of faith for people in New Zealand. The BLIA NZ members implement the teaching of Venerable Master to serve the community with diligence and joy, spreading the kind and virtue values to the nation.
The President of BLIA North Island Ms Yulin Ku shared that it was touched to learn about the story of Venerable Master founding the FGS Temple. It is difficult to imagine just how much persistence and sacrifice would be required to achieve this accomplishment. FGS Temple is truly a treasure for all generations. She felt deeply grateful while copying the Sutra, and blessed to have FGS Temple in NZ. She vows to work with the Temple bringing more good values to the society.
