The police officers have been working extremely hard during the past four months of lockdown restriction. FGS Auckland deliver care to support the police officers during this difficult time. On 7th December, the Counties Manukau East Police Station Area Commander, Inspector Gemmell led a group of police officers to provide community service to the Temple for expressing their appreciation and giving back for the Temple’s care and support.
The police officers were divided into groups to dig up the dried plants, mowing the Mondo grass in the courtyard, trimming hedges, transporting the cements and various tasks. The BLIA members also helping in the whole process.
Abbess Manshin introduced the courtyard called the Field of Merits to the police officers, explaining that to be resilient and keep going regardless of the challenges in our life. Inspector Gemmell thanked the Temple for their continuous care and support for the police officers. Moreover, he believed that this warm feeling would touch the hearts of every person who walks into the Temple, and the Police deeply cherishes the valuable connection with the Temple.
Inspector Higson expressed his gratitude for the caring from the Temple that kept their spirits up during lockdown and strengthened the bonds between the team. As a token of appreciation, they performed the chores with great enthusiasm. Moreover, most of them visited the Temple for the first time allowing them to experience a different culture. They felt grateful for the opportunity to get out of the office and get to serve the community.
