NZP Presenting Appreciation Awards for FGSNZ Recognition of Its Outstanding Community Service

The Counties Manukau District organised the 2022 Counties Manukau Police District Awards Ceremony on 10th June. Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple New Zealand was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the District Commander Superintendent Jill Rogers to recognise the contribution of providing 15,000 Rapid Antigen Kits to nearly 100 schools for urgent relief. There were nearly 150 attendees at the award ceremony, including Minister of Police Hon Poto Williams, Deputy Commissioner Glenn Dunbier, Assistant Commissioner Richard Chambers, Superintendent Jill Rogers, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, Venerable NengChien, President of BLIA North Island Chapter Yulin Ku, Kaumatua Ted Ngataki (MNZM), Rev Bruce Keeley and police officers.

Counties Manukau appreciated and recognised the outstanding service and important contribution of Abbess Manshin and the Team. With the support of BLIA World HQ, delivered RAT Kits and epidemic prevention resources to local schools in Auckland and Christchurch within four days to provide immediate relief for school operations. The principals and teachers greatly appreciated the Temple’s care and support, especially during the challenging time. The Temple’s actions are an exceptional example of service to the community.

Sen Const Matt Green and Const Piho Tuaiti were acknowledged in the ceremony for their outstanding services. Their efforts and active involvement in the community education project, especially the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing, which fosters positive attitudes and values for the community over the years. Besides that, the services of Inspector Colin Higson and Senior Sergeant Anson Lin of Counties Manukau East were highly recognized, and the Police Excellence Awards were proudly presented to both.

DC Dunbier, expressed that Police is a very rewarding, meaningful and challenging career. Every award represents the quality service and dedication that have positively impacted the communities over the years. Minister of Police Hon Williams appreciated the NZ Police on behalf of the community, particularly serving in the vibrant and multicultural Counties Manukau District. She acknowledged their outstanding efforts and the spirit of selflessness in keeping the community safe. The Supt Rogers and the AC Chambers, congratulates and proudly recognise the officers’ outstanding achievements. Moreover, Supt Rogers extended the heartfelt gratitude to all the Police family members and the community who have provided the love and support to the police officers.

The ceremony showed a special video of the distribution of RATs to schools by FGSNZ, which amazed the audiences. After the ceremony, the Hon Williams and the AC Chambers, shared that the efforts that had been made to deliver the resources in such a timely and efficient manner were genuinely impressive.

Furthermore, the Temple team was thanked by a police’s mother who is also a teacher. She came and held tightly to the hands of the venerable to express her gratitude. She shared that with the help of RATs Kits, the operation of many schools was enhanced significantly, and the care from the Temple was greatly appreciated.
