NZP First “Hello” Decorated and Dedicated Vehicle Filmed Promotional Video at FGS NZ

On September 7th the NZP Ethnic Focus Forum was held at the Counties Manukau Police Station. At this forum the launch of a new specially decorated vehicle for the Ethnic Serves team in Auckland was announced.

NZP Ethnic Serves team officer Constable Kevin Deng led a delegation of Asian liaison officers and media members to film a promotional video at FGSNZ for the new vehicle.

Venerable Rulian, Minister-in-charge of FGS Auckland, President Yulin Ku of BLIA North Island Chapter, Subchapter Presidents Annie Chang, Susan Peng warmly received the delegation.

NZP Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said that he hopes this new community car, which is a part of the police fleet, showcases the dedication and commitment to the diverse communities police serve. This car symbolises NZP’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, consultation, and recruitment by valuing diversity, which is one of the core policing values of NZP. By using the electric vehicle, the police continue to reduce emissions while fulfilling carbon reduction targets, Coster emphasised.

Constable Kevin introduced the car’s livery, featuring “Hello” in 75 languages. This design reflects the diversity within NZP and the respect for those in the community who have English as their second language. The vehicle serves as a tool to build trust and connections with the diverse ethnic communities, encompassing over 230 different backgrounds—with hope to change some of the stereotypes and fears associated with the police.

During the filming process at the Temple, the media team was amazed and focused on the distinctive architecture, the field of merits, the serene Ch’an gardens, and the presence of Buddhist Priest representatives. They have been warmly invited to participate in November’s upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival. Constable Kevin said this “Ambassador of Goodwill” vehicle will again be present at the Buddhist Temple to engage with the public.
