Cherry Blossom Art Salon is an annual event organised by Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland in conjunction with Cherry Blossom Festival since 2017., Curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin, Venerable Jue Xi, Venerable Ru Lian, Venerable Miao Kuan and Karzin Leong hosted a preparation meeting On 18th September and about 10 staff and volunteers attended.
The Art Salon will be held from 9th November to 10th December this year, which will feature a collection of exquisite artworks from approximately a hundred local artists. To date, 90 artists has register with about 350 pieces artworks, which include Oil paintings, Acrylic paintings, Watercolour paintings, Glass art, Jewelleries, Ceramics, Photography, Wood sculptures, Bronze sculptures and Stone sculptures. This year, the variety of the exhibition is further enriched with Maori weavings. During the meeting, Abbess Manshin provided guidance on sorting the exhibition items according the types. The exhibition halls is developed into 6 major areas include indoor and outdoor. Besides, tasks such as listing down the description of exhibition items, designing the poster and preparing the exhibition agenda, were distributed among each sub-group.
Abbess Manshin encourages the volunteers to be serious, precise and most importantly, help each other continuously in the process of preparing for the Art Salon. Abbess hopes that the Art Salon provides a valuable platform for the local artists to showcase their talents.
