Bailey Gebbie, a graduate of the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, celebrated his graduation by visiting the Fo Guang Shan (FGS)Christchurch located near the campus with his parents. Bailey, who studied education, has a passion for art and was drawn to the renowned Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch at the temple. He and his parents were impressed by the unique design of the temple and felt a sense of tranquillity and peacefulness upon entering the grounds. When they saw the large Buddha statue in the courtyard, Bailey respectfully bowed and expressed gratitude for successfully completing his studies despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. He also shared his joy with the Buddha and expressed his hope for a bright future.
Bailey expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to take his graduation photos at the art gallery and thanked the temple for the auspicious encounter. Although their visit was brief, Bailey and his parents were impressed by the temple’s beautiful environment and the warmth of the staff. After graduation, Bailey plans to serve in his hometown of Timaru but will always remember the impression that the temple and Christchurch left on him. He hopes to visit the temple again in the future for a more in-depth experience.
