Since the introduction of the free guided tours of the Embroidery Show at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island, the daily number of patrons who visit has increased tremendously, largely due to the astronomical explosion of tour bookings coming through. On 2nd Jun, Ms. Jane Cleland brought 16 embroidery lovers to the Art Gallery to feed their need of inspiring embroidery.
When the group arrived, FGY Art Gallery South Island assistant curator See Shen Lee took the group for a tour of the Exhibition. Ms. Cleland decided to pay a visit to the Art Gallery after her friends recommended the Exhibition to her, showing her the Fo Guang Shan pamphlet. Without a moment’s hesitation, she made a booking for an exhibition guided tour while inviting more friends to share the magic with her.
The group of friends attentively listened on during the tour and learnt a lot about the embroidery works. At the end of the tour, they request a photo session with Venerable Juexi, as they wanted to bring home wonderful memories of the Temple. After expressing their appreciation for Venerable Juexi and See Shen’s hospitality and memorable tour, the group proceeded to the Tea House for afternoon tea.
Since the Embroidery Exhibition of Yao Hong Ying opened at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island, it has attracted an average of well over 60 visitors and patrons every day. The influx of Exhibition guests has had positive effect-it has warmed up the atmosphere at Fo Guang Shan South Island Temple during the otherwise cold and miserable days of winter.
On 3rd Jun, Ms. Christine Hunt and 7 members of Ngaio Marsh Retirement Village visited FGY Art Gallery South Island for a guided tour of the Embroidery Exhibition, and to witness the much talked about works of art for themselves.
Ms. Christine commented that she decided to organize her group for the tour after the strong recommendation of her mother who had already visited the Art Gallery. She said the Temple building is well equipped to cater for retirees, not only in terms of access but also in the atmosphere of the Temple!
