On 25th February, Abbot of Than Hsiang Temple, Malaysia and Klintiendharm Foundation, Thailand, Venerable Wei Wu had led a group of 24 people including venerables and devotees visited Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island, were welcomed by Venerable Jue Xi, BLIA Committee Director, Tracy Chen, Cao Qian and Kok Wei Low.
Venerable Jue Xi had showed and introduces the Main Shrine, Art Gallery, architectural façade design of the temple that is located closest to Antarctica to the visitors. Venerable Jue Xi also explained that even though the geographical location being remotely from other continents, local BLIA devotees were extremely enthusiastic in propagating Buddhism. Venerable Jue Xi also introduces various activities held in FGS South Island to Venerable Wei Wu as reported in the BLIA Report. During this trip, Venerable Wei Wu had understands the localisation of FGS South Island and compliment the philosophy of Humanistic Buddhism.
Venerable Jue Xi presented New Zealand FGS Calendar Year 2020 to the visitors and prepared a welcoming dinner. The group of visitors were impressed with the spectacular architectural design of the temple and praised the passionate yet enthusiastic local devotees leaving them a very good impression in this current trip to South Island, New Zealand.
Venerable Wei Wu were a graduate student of Electrical Engineering in University of Canterbury, New Zealand in year 1973. This main reason for this trip were to revisits the university. However, he has diverted the visit to FGS South Island temple as well. Venerable Wei Wu mentioned that he had strong affinities with FGS where Venerable Wei Wu completed the full ordination at Hsi Lai Temple, United States and also he has been featuring lecturer at FGS Buddhist College.
