In order to let their members experience a different bit of culture, Claire Loudon brought 9 people from Christchurch’s Laura Ferguson-Trust for a tea meditation session on the 22nd of March. She actually became very interested in Tea Meditation from a visit earlier this year in January, and decided to come now with some friends.
The tea meditation was coordinated by BLIA members Kok Wei Low and Ding Lih Son. As the ceremony began, Kok Wei Low guided the guests to sit in silence, putting any thoughts they have aside for the moment. During the ceremony proper, Kok Wei Low kindly explained to the guests about tea meditation’s significance, as well as the types of tea and their place of origin. It was the first time experiencing tea meditation for most of them, yet they were all very committed and felt a strong sense of inner peace.
Later, the visitors were led around the temple by BLIA member Chang Juin Mei. They saw art displays such as the “Sacred Art Exhibition”, “The Liquidity of Motion” splash colour paintings, as well as Natalie Sweetapple and Andrew Carran’s Ceramic art works. They also toured the time corridor, main shrine, atrium and other places. All of the guests were very pleased with the activities and really felt that they gained a lot that day. They sincerely hoped to visit again sometime in the future.
