Renowned New Zealand artist Keith Morant and his wife visited the Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch on 9 August. They were received by Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Abbess Venerable Manshin and FGS South Island Temple Minister-in-Charge Venerable Juexi. Keith is a famous oil painter who has held many exhibitions at the FGY Art Gallery Christchurch and his artworks received huge applause from visitors.
During the visit, Keith and FGY Art Gallery have decided on a cooperation plan. The FGY Art Gallery Christchurch will make some convenient and lightweight reusable shopping bags with artistic value, based on four of Keith’s art creations. This is to promote the concept of environmental protection and caring for the Earth and is in line with the New Zealand government’s ban on plastic bags since 1 July this year. The shopping bag combines environmental concepts with art and makes the shopping experience even more colourful.
Samples of the artistic shopping bag have been pushed out since July, and was well received by the public. Keith said he will add more value to the shopping bag collection by signing them personally. Three art shopping bag signing sessions will be held at the FGY Art Gallery Christchurch on 28 September, 5 October and 2 November. We wish to see you all here!
