The Water Drop Café of Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island has gained a place as one of the best Café in Christchurch serving vegetarian cuisines and delicacies. Ever since its re-opening after the COVID-19 pandemic Lockdown, the Water drop Café has been flooded with patrons seeking to satisfy their palates. To show its appreciation of the supports from these patrons, the Café has, on the 7th and 8th of July 2020, introduced 3 new cuisines to its menu. The patrons were pleasantly surprised by the introduction of the new additions and thanked the Café management for their thoughtful action.
The first addition to the menu was the fresh and faintly scented vegetarian pumpkin cake with vanilla icing; the second addition was the potato pancake made of mashed potato with crispy golden crust and served with a special sauce; and the third addition was the vegetarian Italian styled pudding, consisting of sweet tasting jelly mixed with chocolate, and considered the best dessert in the Café. These new additions all tasted delicious and were well received by the patrons. On a side note, the potatoes used in the pancakes were supplied by Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island President Bernie. Bernie was full of praises for the crispy pancake after personally tasted it.
To comply with the aim of the naturalization of Humanistic Buddhism, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Minister-in-charge Venerable Jue Xi has insisted on running the Water Drop Café in a professional way, without failing to propagate Humanistic Buddhism via vegetarianism. To expose the public to the many and varied Buddhist vegetarian cuisines, Water Drop Café would introduce new and fresh menu at fixed intervals. The introduction of delicious vegetarian foods will thus attract people to the Temple, and at the same time, will promote vegetarianism, which in turn helps to protect the Earth in the long run.
