On 12th December, two Venerables and one devotee from Dunedin’s Dharmakaya Temple visited FGS South Island. Arriving at 7pm, the guests were greeted by Temple Supervisor Venerable Juexi, Venerable Miaoyu, BLIA Advisor Mr. John Lai, President Mr. Almeric Cheng, Director Gina Chen and volunteers.
The guests were taken to the Buddha Hall, where they offered incense to the Buddha. Following on, the guests toured around the building and admired Shan Shan Hsiao’s Pressed Flower Exhibition at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery.
Venerable Juexi passed on Venerable Abbess Manshin’s regards, and on behalf of the Temple, presented the guests with copies of “Southern China’s Human Resources Weekly”, the North and South Island BLIA Activities Report, “Way of Life” and the 2010 Calendar of FGS New Zealand; Venerable Zhiyu of Dharmakaya Temple also shared in the spirit of giving, and gave the Venerables of FGS a copy of “The Sun of Peace”.
Engaging in a relaxed conversation, the Venerables exchanged their experiences of promoting Buddhism overseas. Venerable Zhiyu encouraged the volunteers to be industrious in serving their faith. He also shared his experiences of attending Buddhist College at FGS headquarters five years ago, praising FGS monastics for carry out the duty of Dharma propogation with dignity and excellence.
Before departing, Venerable Zhiyu expressed that when the opportunity arises, he will bring the other Venerables from his Temple to visit FGS South Island. Venerable Juexi also invited the Venerables and devotees of Dharmakaya Temple to attend the multi-faith Buddha’s Birthday Celebration Blessings Dharma Service at FGS South Island on the 17th April, 2010.
