The fourth English Buddhism Terminology Class took place on the evening of 10th January at Fo Guang Shan South Island, with English Social Education leader Shenghan Lim beginning the lesson by leading the class of eleven participants in reviewing the materials discussed in the previous lesson in order to maximise the rate of learning.
The new material introduced during this lesson included the definition of sutras, mantras and sastras, and an introduction to the basic ideas of the Five Precepts. The style of teaching was casual yet interesting, keeping the students’ on their toes through prompting many questions. The teacher patiently answered the questions with stories and interesting explanations and once again concluded another successful lesson.
