The Police Commissioners joint Maori Pacific and Ethnic Focus Forum was held at the Fo Guang Shan Temple in Auckland on Thursday 5 December 2019. The forum brings together the leaders of these communities to provide advice and guidance on mutual priorities for both the Police and the communities. It ensures a voice of community at the highest decision-making table of police. A total of 30 people were in attendance and it was the last meeting for 2019. The group received presentations on the annual activities for each area of New Zealand Police as well as an update on the Crowded Places Strategy.
A vote of thanks was passed by the group for the professional hosting and beautiful arrangements by Fo Guang Shan. The attendees made specific mention that the temples environment ensures that good decision making can occur and brings them peace and joy to visit.
