The Area Commander of Counties Manukau East Supported 2022 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing

The Area Commander of Counties Manukau East Inspector Scott Gemmell and Senior Sergeant Anson Lin visited FGS Auckland on 13th May 2022 to support the 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing. They were warmly welcomed by FGS NZ Abbess Manshin, Venerable Rulian and BLIA Directors.

Insp Gemmell arrived at the Temple just as the Farm Cove Intermediate School students meditated and practised Tai Chi in the courtyard. He was amazed that the entire Temple engaged in constructing and serving the community. In his speech to Farm Cove students, he was glad to witness 230 students joined the 3G4G Festival as this is an excellent opportunity for students to learn to become good people. He appreciated Temple’s contribution to the community, and the efforts from the police, school and Temple could work together to form a harmonised homeland.

During the visit, Insp Gemmell and Snr Sgt Lin enjoyed the floral arrangement artwork created by Abbess and said it gave them a sense of comfort and aesthetic tranquillity. Insp Gemmell commented that the sincerity of Abbess and the Temple Team touched him so much in creating the Chan Garden in the Ormiston Police Station. The Chan Garden now is a popular venue in the police station to allow the officers to reflect and transforming their bodies and minds.

Inspector Gemmell sought advice from Abbess on How to give other people convenience? Abbess explained that to give others convenience, not to make things complicated and not to be bureaucratic in order to show one’s power. As Venerable Master Hsing Yun said, by giving people convenience and thinking for others,  is doing good deeds and accumulate convenience for oneself. Venerable Master describes the monastery is like a petrol station of life; a departmental store for the minds; a school for virtue for accumulate our wisdom. Insp Gemmell appreciated the knowledge for clearing the doubt, and the visit again widened his horizon.
