The promotion of Appreciation of Beauty in Life at the Fo Guang Shan Art Gallery is based on a philosophy by the Founder of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order, Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

Appreciation of beauty in life relates to the appreciation of beautiful actions, words and minds, which leads to the Three Acts of Goodness: Do good deeds, Speak good words and Think good thoughts. A kind and beautiful mind can create a kind and beautiful world, bringing warmth and colour into our lives.

Based on the Avatamsaka Sutra, Our mind is like a skilled painter who is able to create artworks of the various realms. Like an artist, our mind portrays art, allowing us to feel the majestic Land of Pure Crystal and experience the brightness of the Avatamsaka world.

Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland has provided an interactive platform for our artists. We hope that each piece of work in the current exhibition, which depict kindness, truth and beauty, will be appreciated and recognised. Through the dissemination of art, let us work together to create a pure land in the minds of our community and realise this appreciation of beauty in life.
