Starting in 2017, the Art Salon aims to foster harmony through Art in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Art Salon. Under the guidance of the curator of Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery New Zealand, Venerable Abbess Manshin, the developing team has been working tirelessly to bring the 5th Art Salon Online on 1 Nov to light the current Covid-19 Restrictions.
After tremendous effort and hard work by the Gallery staff and developing teams, the online website, which features over 450 artworks from 91 local artists, pioneered using the latest technology to display the artworks in 2D and 3D viewing halls, which gives new milestones to Art Salon. The visual feast features various genres, including sculptures, glass art, jewellery, ceramics, paintings, photographs, mosaic art, batik, weaving, embroidery, textile and more!
The 2021 Art Salon Exhibition sets off a wave of collision of wisdom and innovation, combining art and humanities. Over 1,000 visitors viewed the exhibition online, and more than 100 audiences supported and voted for their favourite artists. On the13 November, an online blessing and celebration ceremony will be held to deliver hope and positivity to everyone.
Participating Artist Tut Blumental said the Online exhibition looks amazing, grateful for the Gallery’s efforts, and sure it will be a successful exhibition. Wellington-based artist Lani Eyles looking forward to checking out all the wonderful art online, and she’s happy to make a donation for any sold works.
Auckland artist Ken Garrett congratulated the art salon team for the amazing standard of the website for the 2021 art exhibition. Ken expressed that it far exceeds anything he would have expected to see or any other that he remembers seeing anywhere before. The sheer degree of professionalism is astounding in all aspects. Layout organisation, design, detail and clarity have quite clearly taken an enormous amount of hard work and skill to achieve that standard. During these difficult times, the team must consist of some very talented and dedicated people to achieve such this. As one of the exhibiting artists, Ken thanks for treating their works with such care and skill.
Participating artists Dejin Liu, Jacquie Ellis, Mandy Emerson, Janice Napper, Muriel Garrett and Textile artists Alysn Midgelow also send their greetings and thanks to the Gallery.
As Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the Founder of the Order, once said, live within hope; believe that there will be a better tomorrow. Curator Venerable Abbess Manshin hopes that the visitors would brighten their minds and heart through art, and the efforts from the public would bring more joy and warmth to the community. Curator hopes that everyone is taking care and staying safe amid this global pandemic.
