Visitors Enjoy Art and Culture at Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple Auckland

A total of 82 seniors from Auckland’s Silver Tone Group and Virtual Village East visited Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Auckland on 20 and 21 October 2026. The visitors enjoyed freshly baked scones, muffins and English morning tea prepared by the Temple before exploring the 60 Years of Passing the Lamp, Honouring a 100- Year Legacy FGS commemorative exhibition and the 2026 10th Art Salon. The Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian and Venerable Nengchien warmly welcomed the groups and presented souvenirs and inspirational quotes from the Founding Master, Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

Tour guides Brent Russell and Jennie Henry introduced the life and teachings of the Venerable Master, Fo Guang Shan’s global development and its 20 years of service in New Zealand. They also shared the Art Salon’s history and achievements over the past decade. Russell described the seniors’ excitement upon entering the exhibition as being like children walking into a toy shop.

Colleen, organiser of Silver Tone Group, shared that the Art Salon has become an annual highlight since their first visit in 2024. Kate from Virtual Village East also expressed appreciation for the Temple’s peaceful atmosphere, warm hospitality and delicious refreshments. Visitor Jo shared how the Venerable Master’s book 366 Days with Wisdom continues to inspire her daily life. She was delighted to return with her husband, who particularly enjoyed the freshly baked scones.

The visitors praised the diverse artworks, thoughtful exhibition arrangements and welcoming service. Grateful for an enriching day of art, culture and friendship, many expressed their excitement about returning for the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival.
